Maika Ortiz The New Team Captain of UST Lady Tigresses and Their New Recipe For Success In UAAP 74

Just like Aiza Maizo, the former team captain of the UST Lady Tigresses, Maika Ortiz, the chosen player to replace Aiza Maizo, is also a light-hearted person who loves to smile a lot amidst challenges. That's probably the reason why she was chosen to lead the herd of the Tigresses in the upcoming UAAP Season 74 Volleyball wars on November. I also read that the new coach of the UST Lady Tigresses, Mr. Odjie Mamon is instilling a new system to his team. It's called "Open-Secret." I got these news from an article found in the Varsitarian.net. For more details you can read the article. Here's the article.

    Lady Spikers unravel 'winning formula'
    By Chenny V. Ramos

GONE are the three of the school’s most accomplished coaches, but UST is moving on.

In fact new coaches Odjie Mamon (women’s volleyball, Chris Cantonjos (women’s basketball) and Gabby Remigio (tennis) have vowed to continue UST’s winning tradition.

Mamon, former coach of the national women’s team begun implementing what he called his “open secret” strategy—the “P-S-b" (passing is greater than serving is greater than blocking) formula. It meant to prove the Lady Spikers’ basic volleyball skills and, eventually, improve their offe3nsive plays.

“I want to bond and discipline the team,” Mamon said. “With the new system I will layout a new foundation, we have a vision and I want everything to be standardized.”

The volleybelles will rely on Season 73 Best Setter [Rhea Dimaculangan] Jamenea Ferrer, alongside new team captain Maika Ortiz and beach volleyball mainstay Judy Caballejo.

“A player cannot win volleyball by herself it’s a team effort,” Mamon said. “I want my team to be a balanced scoring team, just like the men’s team.”

Correction, Rhea Dimaculangan is not the Best Setter of UAAP Season 73, Jamenea Ferrer of Ateneo is. tsk, unprofessional post, kulang sa research

jamenea ferrer no doubt was season 73's best setter. hopefully she defends her crown this coming season. but with her recent showing at the v-league finals, that doesn't sound like a far-fetched idea. haha! go jem ferrer!

Former Tanduay-Purefoods player Chris Cantonjos is now a volleyball coach? I didn't know that he's a two sport athlete. Last time I saw him was in Shopwise Sucat last year. Good Luck to UST-VB!
