DLSU Green Archers Beat NU Bulldogs In FilOil 2011 Flying V Premier Cup: Bobby Parks Jr. Continues To Shine

Slowly but surely, the De La Salle University Green Archers are getting back to their usual form. They are now on a 2 game winning streak. They first beat the Arellano University Chiefs and then recently they beat Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and his NU Bulldogs. Both of the games were nail biters. But between the Arellano game and the NU game, the latter game revealed the new superstars of DLSU. It also showed their heart to win games. They fought tooth and nail against the scoring champ of FilOil, Bobby Parks Jr. who had 29 big points but his efforts weren't enough to beat the Green Archers. La Salle won with the score of 81-74 via Overtime.

The former ace guard of San Sebastian and PCCR, Almond Vosotros exploded for DLSU. Aside from dishing out nice assists to his teammates, he also scored 17 points for La Salle. For me he's the new Jayvee Casio of Taft. He's quiet and he's modest in his speech on the court but he exceeds in his actions in every aspect of the game for his team. In the crunch time, he made a big And 1 play in overtime to give La Salle a comfortable 5 point lead with 1 minute and 30 seconds left on the game clock. That was the dagger that ended the run of the Bulldogs. Joseph Marata also pitched in some crucial and nerve wracking three pointers to help Vosotros in scoring.

NU made a run in the regulation. They were able to overcome La Salle's 19 point lead. NU was able to build a 3 point lead, 68 to 65 in the last 1 minute and 38 seconds of the 4th quarter but Sam Marata, the former UAAP Juniors MVP made a cold blooded three pointer to tie the game and send it to overtime. From then on it was Almond Vosotros who carried his team on his small shoulders for the win. Almond just loves to be in the limelight against someone like Bobby Parks Jr.. I'm sure we'll see more of them going head to head in the UAAP.

NU has now lost 3 straight games. They now have 4 wins and 3 losses to stay in the third spot in Group A. La Salle on the other hand now have 2 wins and 2 losses. They are on the 4th spot in group A together with San Beda. La Salle is fresh from a US trip wherein they attended a basketball skills camp. The trip appeared to be fruitful as it resulted to a win against the highly improved NU Bulldogs.
