    Dallas Beats Lakers To Win Western Conference Semis Series In 2011 NBA Playoffs





    The Dallas Mavericks sank a record setting 20 made three pointers in an NBA Semi-finals game. Peja Stojakovic and Jason Terry led the three points sniping for Dallas. The Mavericks beat Lakers via 122-86. They just swept the series against the defending champions, Lakers. The legendary coach, Phil Jackson made a graceful exit as he ended his historic career as an NBA head coach. This game will be his last game as he announced in game 1 of this series that the Lakers should try their best to win again the championship because he will retire after this season. This marks the end of Phil Jackson’s era. He had 4 championships with the Lakers, with Shaq and Kobe and another 2 with Pau and Kobe. The Lakers made a valiant effort in this game but the Mavericks were better this time. They were swept in 4 games by the Mavericks.

    The Mavericks dominated the Lakers in this game. They built an 18 point lead in the first quarter alone. Peja Stojakovic and Jason Terry combined for a total of 11 three pointers made in the first half alone. They were able to have a huge 19 point lead at half time. In the third quarter, the Lakers made a little run but Artest’s missed lay-up doused their confidence. Terry and Peja continued their three point assault. Terry had 9 three pointers. He tied the all time record for most three pointers made in a playoff series. Peja on the other hand had 6 three pointers in the game. The big 7’0 German, Dirk Nowitzki put the nail on the coffin with 17 big points. Dallas turned all the lights off against the Lakers. The Lakers had several flagrant fouls in the latter part of this game because the Mavericks’ lead was growing to as much as 36 points.
