Alaska-Air 21 Trade Did Not Happen Because Chito Salud Disagreed With It: PBA Governors Cup 2011 Preparations

PBA fans have believed that the Alaska trade with Air 21 involving Joe Devance and JR Reyes will happen for sure, but Attorney Chito Salud, the new PBA Commissioner turned down the proposal because he viewed it as unfair for Alaska because he thinks that JR Reyes is not as good as Devance. He asked Air 21 to add 2 future second round draft picks along with JR Reyes if they want the contract to prosper. They should act fast because Joe Devance recently said that if Ginebra will ask for his services, he'd gladly accept it because he also wants to play for Ginebra. If Ginebra would initiate such trade, it will be easier for them to do so because they have Willie Miller and JC Intal to trade in exchange for Devance.

I discovered that Alaska wants to re-acquire Rob Wainwright to replace the spot of Joe Devance. For me, this is a great move on their part because Rob can score in so many different ways compared to Devance. Devance, for me is less versatile compared to Rob but Devance is younger than Rob. This just proves that Alaska wants to have more veteran players who can score because they want to challenge TNT in the upcoming PBA Governor's Cup.

I recently visited the Twitter account of Snow Badua and here are the fresh updates regarding the Alaska trade.

As far as my experience would tell me, this is by far the most most talked about trade story in the PBA, the Alaska-Air 21 trade. There are many reasons why we should follow this trade. One important reason is that, this trade can make or break a team if it will not be taken seriously. Thus, this trade story deserves to be chronicled by many sports enthusiasts including me.
