Alfonso "Ponso" Gotladera De La Salle 's (DLSU) New Center For UAAP 74 Basketball Cage Wars 2011

There is really something to look forward to with regard to the future of De La Salle Green Archers Basketball program because they have once again added a mammoth like player in their line-up in the person of Alfonso "Ponso" Gotladera. Ponso is a 6'5 center of the infamous San Beda Red Cubs. He is just fresh from a championship in the junior ranks of the NCAA. Ponso is a great rebounder and he is a ferocious offensive player like Noli Locsin. He is not afraid to bang bodies with other big men of the other teams such as the Ateneo Blue Eagles. He has decided to play for the DLSU Green Archers.

De La Salle has been waiting for a player like Ponso Gotladera. They are tired of the usual big men that they have been using in the UAAP. Those big men have no low post game. Gone are the days of Don Allado who steered DLSU to numerous UAAP championships. DLSU's coaching staff have been waiting for a player like Allado to come and play for them. But that is now a dream no more as Ponso Gotladera has expressed his desire to play for the Taft based squad. This made coach Dindo Pumaren happy. He now has the luxury to play a low post game because he has Ponso, Arnold Van Opstal and Norbert Gonzales who are centers with great potentials in playing their position.

They have good guards but definitely they need to have reliable big men in order for them to become a legit contender in this upcoming UAAP Season 74 Cage wars.

Ponso will make his Green Archer debut in the 2011 Fil Oil-Flying V Basketball Cup this coming April 2011.

Ponso avarages 12 points, 8 rebounds and 1 block per game. Ponso will be a vital part of the Archer's offense because he will attract many double teams and he can kick-out the ball to Simon Atkins, Nico Elorde, LA Revilla and to the new golden boy of La Salle, Dan Sara.

The DLSU Green Archers will still be in tact. David Joshua Webb, Papot Paredes, Sam Marata, Yutien Andrada, Maui Villanueva, Jovet Mendoza, Nico Elorde, Luigi Dela Paz and Almond Vosotros will still be around.

The other UAAP teams especially their rival, Ateneo Blue Eagles will definitely have their hands full when they meet the new DLSU Green Archers. It will be Ponso versus Slaughter and Dan Sara versus Mark Tallo.
