Brandon The Truth Vera had his nose broken in his latest fight against Thiago Silva in the third round.
The Filipino pride in the world of UFC loses again, this time in the hands of Thiago Silva. It was a unanimous decision in favor of Thiago Silva. The fight was one of the most awaited fight in the UFC 125 because of the Filipino fans' wish to see Vera win and make a come back. They want to see Brandon Vera win again after quite some time. Vera was once a high rated fighter but all of a sudden his career went sour. One way of getting it back is to win over one of the hottest UFC fighter in the land, Silva.
Brandon Vera has a record of 11 wins and 5 losses in MMA and 7 wins and 5 losess in the UFC, while his opponent Thiago Silva has a record of 14 wins and 2 losses in MMA and 5 wins and 2 losses in the UFC. It is very clear that Silva has a greater winning percentage while Vera has a higher percentage of losses.
In their fight which is scheduled for 3 rounds, Vera had a hard time in countering the punches of Silva.
Thiago Silva took the very important round 1. Vera was shell shocked but he tried to conceal it through trash talking. Very strong leg kicks from Silva landed on the face of Vera that enabled Silva to take him down. He then resorted to attack from the top, hitting Vera's jaw. The bell for the first round rang. They went back up while having a little trash talk.
In the second round, Vera started aggressively. He punches very quickly without holding back for strategy. He also used his knees which at first was effective but due to lifting his knees more often, Silva was able to take him down. Vera used some elbow shots but the strong back and side muscles of Silva withstood them. Silva attacked his head and like in the first round, Vera can't seem to read Silva's punches. Silva is on a roll and Vera is bleeding. Silva keeps on pounding him on the ground. The bell rang. This round is also for Silva. It's now 2-0.
In the third and final round, Vera is looking for a knockout stoppage for him to win otherwise he will lose. Once again, Silva gets hold of Vera's thinner and lighter body and he takes him back down. He had Vera's back against the cage. Silva was looking for the kill. Vera couldn't do anything but cover his face. Silva threw several hook punches. It's all red for Vera. The damage reached it climax when his nose got broken. The bell for the final round rang. Silva quickly rises and he reached for his staff. Silva won and Vera loses. It's a clear 3-0.
Many fans are booing Vera. Some of them are saying that he should already retire.
The final score card's result showed that the judges decided to give all the rounds for Silva. They gave the 3 rounds a score of 30-27, 30-27, 30-27. All in favor of Silva.
Thiago Silva played drums on the head and shoulders of Brandon Vera. Vera couldn't do anything but to accept all the hard punches of Thiago Silva. Silva held him on the ground several times and for the most parts of the match that. Thiago Silva dominated Vera.
