The Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles pecked the University of Cebu Webmasters using their heavy guard line-up with the score of 74-54.
The UC's main man, the 6'10 Junemar Fajardo carried his team on his broad shoulders but his efforts were not enough. He had a double-double performance, with 20 plus points and 10 plus rebounds. Jumbo Escueta, Frank Golia, and Justin Chua did their best to contain the cebuano hotshot but they failed. They were owned by him.
The good news is that Tonino Gonzaga, Juami Tiongson, and Emman Monfort all had great shooting in this game. Gonzaga used his veteran smarts to outclast the shorter wingmen defenders of UC as he bullied his way to the basket. Juami, on the other hand, showed his composure as he toyed with his defenders. He also sank plenty three-point bombs. But, it was the smallest guy on the floor that really made a great difference for the Ateneo. His name is Emman "The Pocket Rocket" Monfort. He's just 5'7 but he played with a huge heart. All in all he had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for his team.
The Ateneo will face Adamson on December 2 for a best of three PCCL Finals series. A part of the proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the Save the Ilog Pasig Advocacy foundation.
