San Miguel Beats B-Meg Cabagnot Is The Hero In PBA Philippine Cup Season 36 2010

Alex Cabagnot did it again for San Miguel as he made the winning shot for the second time in his young San Miguel Career. It is just Cabagnot's second year of playing for the Beermen but he has arguably become their new leader on the floor. Because of his last second heroics they were able to beat the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados with the score of 85-83.

James Yap was not in his usual form as he struggled to score during the first up to the fourth quarter of this game. He struggled in his three point shooting he only made one three point shot and it came only in the last 6 minutes of the fourth quarter. James Yap only had 22 points. It was Peter June Simon who made the game tying three pointer in the last 20 seconds of this game but his effort to send the game into overtime was spoiled by Alex Cabagnot.

Cabagnot's game winning shot happened in the last 14.5 seconds of the fourth quarter. He waited for the right time to slash the defense of B-Meg. He shot the ball using his right hand and it's difficult because he is a lefty. He made a Dwyane Wade like shot. At first I thought it will not go in because it didn't hit the board but like a tear drop shot it went it. The Beermen team and their fans went into a frenzy.

Look at his shot very closely:

And look at this Dwyane Wade shot:

These two great shots look alike.

Cabagnot only had 8 points and 7 assists but he had the most important shot in the game.

Coach Ato Agustin said, “The first option was to set a screen and then a pick and roll, ibinigay ko sa kanya ang play na ‘yon kung hindi pwede ang drop pass. Na-shock ako sa nangyari, Cabagnot is really a smart player.

Here's the magical shot of Alex:
