Rain or Shine Beats Talk 'n Text In PBA Season 36

Sol Mercado hit the biggest shot of his very young career in the PBA. He hit the game-winner in their game against Talk 'n Text in the PBA Season 36. The score was 95-93.

It was a very close match and the Sole Train also known as Sol Mercado carried the scoring load for his team Rain or Shine. There is a reason why he was chosen to reinforce the short guard line-up of the Smart Gilas RP Team for the Guangzhou Asian Games. He can drive, he can shoot threes and he can pass the ball like a true pointguard. He is not that short he's listed as 6'1.

With 1.5 seconds left in the game he hit the winning shot at the top of the key to break the tie in the score 93-93 and it became 95-93.

Talk 'n Text had a chance to tie the game but the pass of Harvey Carey was erratic that it hit the backboard for another turnover.

Sol Mercado had 18 points, Jay R Reyes had 13 points, Gabe Norwood had 11, Vanlandingham had 8, Kramer had 8, Jazul had 7, Rodriguez had 7, Tang had 5, Chan had 5, Cruz had 4, Ibanes had 4, Bugia had 2, and Ferriols had 2.

Coach Caloy Garcia of Rain or Shine said, “I think the good side about wins like these is that we can prove that we can win close games. Before the game, I told the boys that we’re playing a talented team, but as you can see, we’re maturing well as a team."
