Meralco Bolts Beats Rain or Shine In PBA Season 36 Philippine Cup 2010

It was an electrifying performance coming Mac Cardona and his rejuvenated crew as the Meralco Bolts beat the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters with the score of 87-79.

Mac Cardona, the captain hook of Meralco Bolts led his team in scoring with 27 points, a new career high but he called his other ship crews to help him get the pot of gold from Rain or Shine. He was helped by Chris Ross and Gabby Espinas in getting their second win after five games.

Gabby Espinas had 18 big points while Chris Ross had 12 points and 3 assists. They were both big in the last minutes of the fourth quarter.

Ryan Gregorio the coach of Meralco said in an interview, “The last three losses were losses because we allowed ourselves to just roll over and die, we’re slowly beginning to adjust to each other’s strengths and I’m slowly beginning to discover the team’s strengths. I’ve always thought that Rain or Shine is a tough team and it’s a great feeling to win against a quality team."

Asi Taulava had 8 points for Meralco. This will be his last game for this season as he will join the Smart Gilas team for the Asian Games.

Gregorio further said, “He’s a winner, but Asi is a tired man. He’s been practicing twice a day. He doesn’t have youthful legs, but I told him to challenge his excuses. He was a solid performer in tonight’s game."

Solomon Mercado had 17 points and 7 steals for Rain or Shine. While his partner in crime Gabe Norwood had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
