Ginebra Beats Barako Bull In PBA Season 36

The rampaging Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings crushed Barako Bull with the score of 93-74, to be at par with the passive Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the very important middle position, the fifth spot in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Astrodome last night.

Mark Caguioa had several free looks and we don't call him the Spark for nothing. He burried those deep three's. Swoosh! He had 18 big points.

The Gin Kings had a surging run in the third and fourth quarters on their way to having a 93-74 win over the rejuvenated Barako Bull because of Sunday Salvacion.

The score was only 60-59 and Ginebra only holds a precarious 1 point lead in the third quarter, but in the last 2 minutes of the third period Ginebra suddenly felt the need to run the Barakos to the ground and so they had a huge 24-4 run, including 11 straight points topped by a three-pointer from Ronald Tubid in the start of the 4th quarter, giving them a comfortable 82-63 advantage with 7:44 to play.

Mark "the spark" Caguioa had 18 points and his new partner Willie Miller whose a former 2 time MVP added 15 points. Hatfield has not yet to get into his usual bullish form with 13 points and 22 rebounds. Mike Cortez also had 11 points.

The Gin Kings are now tied in the 5th spot with Rain Or Shine. The Barakos now have a 1-3 win loss card.

Coach Jong Juichico felt relaxed after the game when he said, “It’s still a lot of work to do on our side,” said Uichico, whose team continued to miss the services of center Eric Menk (right hamstring injury).I think we just broke loose in third, that’s the story of the game. But in the first two quarters, we’re shaky. It’s a good. At least we got the morale back. But we can’t do that against the contenders. Hopefully we can carry this over in Sunday’s game (against defending champion B-Meg Derby Ace).”

    The scores:

    Ginebra 93 - Caguioa 18, Miller 15, Hatfield 13, Cortez 11, Tubid 8, Helterbrand 8, Aquino 5, Intal 5, Wilson 5, Mamaril 3, Villanueva 2, Cruz 0.

    Barako 74 - Dimaunahan 14, Isip 13, Hubalde 11, Salvacion 9, Juntilla 8,
    Thiele 7, Wainwright 7, Andaya 2, Misolas 2, Bono 1, Hermida 0, Cruz 0.
