Amir Khan Sparring Manny Pacquiao For Margarito Fight

MANILA, Philippines – British boxing superstar Amir Khan will reportedly assume once more his role as a sparring partner of 7-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

According to LiveFight.com and Gareth A. Davies of The Telegraph, Khan will train with Pacquiao in Baguio City for 3 weeks.

Khan, the World Boxing Association (WBA) world light welterweight champion, is also being trained by Freddie Roach.

“I get so much from working alongside Manny. We never fight over Freddie's attention,” he told Telegraph Sport.

“Tell me if there’s a better place to be than with the world’s best trainer and the world’s best boxer. I learn so much from rubbing shoulders with Manny and I genuinely admire him,” he added.

The 23-year-old Briton recently retained his title against Paulie Malignaggi last May.

He was Pacquiao’s sparring mate in 2008 while the Filipino boxing icon was training for his fight against Oscar de la Hoya.

Pacquiao is getting ready for his November 14 clash against Mexican Antonio Margarito at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He will be gunning for his 8th world title in 8 different divisions, the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight belt.

Khan will see action on December 11 against Marcos Maidana at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. “King Khan” will defend his title against the Argentine.

The British fighter, meantime, declared his refusal to fight the Filipino boxer-congressman.

“As for fighting Pacquiao in the future, I can't really see that happening,” he said in a LiveFight.com report.

“I’m sure by the time I get to that level he will be calling it a day. We train in the same camp and I've got too much respect for Manny to fight him,” he continued.

Khan will also reportedly join Pacquiao’s training camp in Dallas.

Pacquiao’s other sparring mates for the Margarito training camp are American Glen Tapia and Mexican Michael Medina.
