Two of The Top UAAP Teams Went Down

It's Saturday, September 4, 2010. It was a day of great upset games in the UAAP Season 73.

The De La Salle Green Archers went down against UE Red Warriors via 80-74 victory. It was a big upset because DLSU is trying to get a twice to beat advantage. With UE's win over DLSU it's now very clear that they will no longer have a chance to get to the number 2 spot. Paul Lee scored 13 points and dished off 6 assists while the recently voted MVP of the week James Vincent Martinez scored 16 points and dished off 5 assists. He was 4/9 in the three point area. He was inspired in that game since his girlfriend Rebecca Gale Montero or Jed Montero watched him. It was also a breakout game for Raffy Reyes he scored 17 points, his new career high. De La Salle's big men, Ferdinand and Papot Paredes both pitched in huge points while taking advantage over the smaller guys of UE, but their efforts went into waste.

In the second game Lester Alvarez, Erick Camson, Jerick Canada and Jan Colina had a great night for Adamson but it was the bench of the NU Bulldogs that made the greatest difference in that game. NU had 23 points all in all from their bench. Their bench players showed off especially the Ignacio guy. He scored 15 points and dished 3 assists while Kokoy Hermosisima and Emanuel Mbe are sitting on the bench. During the 1:43secs. of the fourth quarter of that game AdU managed to tie the game via Camson's beautiful assist to Colina. It came down to the last 8 seconds of the game when Mervin Baloran penetrated the very tight holes of the Adamson defense and when he attracted the attentions of Camson, Colina, and Manyara he spotted the wide open Jewel Ponferrada who nailed the shot. As a result they defeated the Soaring Falcons via 62-59. Ateneo now holds the second spot because AdU loss their game.
