Chicago Team First Champions In NABA or North American Basketball Association

The Filipinos are known to be big basketball fanatics. Wherever you go in the Philippines you'll see basketball courts. This is the reason why the Pinoy contingent in the United States of America organized a basketball league called NABA or North American Basketball Association. This is the most awaited basketball league of the Pinoy Hoopsters abroad. Proudly saying, it was the biggest Filipino basketball league in the USA.

The league has been there for 13 years now. It's now on its 23rd season. It was the first time to be televised here in the Philippines. It was Sir. Peter Musngi of ABS-CBN Channel two who discovered the league. He will ask the committee of the league if ABS-CBN can have the privelege to be the only station to televise it. But they will only choose 5 to 10 games of the league. It's annually held in the USA.

The league has 1,700 athletes coming from 24 cities in the USA, Canada and London. The sports committee of the league said that with the increasing popularity of the league we'll look for sponsors so that we could make the league more big time.

The Champions in this year's NABA is the Chicago Team:

They fought against Jersey Shore Athletics Group. It was a close game all throughout. But it was the Chicago Team who prevailed. They won by just three points 77-80. Their team captain said that "all of the players here in the league wants to show their skills and talents, we all want to have a chance to play in the PBA someday." He also reiterated the value of hardwork and discipline. The extra time that they put in just to practice shooting because they are too small and they have to shoot threes to pad on their lead.
