UST Lady Tigresses Win Game 1 of The V-league Finals

The UST Lady Tirgresses first beat the Lyceum University Pirates in the semi-finals and then they are now up against the San Sebastian Lady Stags led by Bualee, their guest player and Bepito their leading spiker. Before the start of game 1, there was an awarding ceremony.

Here are those persons who received their awards:

San Sebastian guest player Suzanne Roces bagged the MVP crown while Thai teammate Jeng Bualee ran away with the best scorer honors during the conference’s awards rites.

Joy Benito, another mainstay of SSC, copped the most improved player title while teammate Jennelyn Belen won the best setter award. Three Lyceum players also hogged the spotlight with Thai import Porntip Santrong winning the best receiver award, Nica Guliman bagging the best blocker title and Nicolette Tabafunda emerging the conference’s top server.

Roces was sixth in the scoring derby but was the league’s best spiker and No. 9 in service and ninth in blocking. Last year’s MVP, Aiza Maizo of UST, took the best attacker award while Adamson’s Lizlee Ann Gata emerged the league’s top digger.”

UST beat San Sebastian in their first game. UST won in four sets. The scores per set were:
    SET1: 25-21 (ust)
    SET2: 22-25 (ssc)
    SET3: 25-20 (ust)
    SET4:25-15 (ust)

We can see that the game is very tight and that San Sebastian fought well against the diesel like UST. I said diesel like because in the eliminations they were not that good but when they got hot, they slow gained momentum and burned their engines like a diesel. With that in mind, I can say that they are one win away from bagging another championship. It would be their SIXTH championship. It is by far the most in the league. Cheers!
